Sharon Thomas“I am fascinated with making and designing letters.”

Nothing else I’ve ever done fills up the space inside me that says
“This is what I’m meant to do.”
To me, calligraphy is a way of blessing people.
It’s a way to give people something tangible to hold and read that will touch their hearts, impact their lives, share their deepest emotions, and plant wise words in minds and souls.

There’s no boredom here in my home studio when I’m designing and lettering. I’m always learning, always desiring to do something new. My Monday mornings are like this, “Oh YAY! I get to spend my day in my studio!” Everybody should be able to do work that is play to them, to follow their passion… I know I am so blessed to be able to do what I love.

How did I get here from where I was before…doing things that didn’t fill me with joy?  Well…..here’s a little bit of my story:

All my life I have played around with art and design–drawing, painting, designing paper doll clothes as a child–and a long time ago I had my first calligraphy lesson from an art teacher-friend. I loved it and practiced on my own. I did a bit of work for people for awhile, such as certificates, invitations, and gifts. But, (needing cash!) then I went back to school, earned my degree in elementary education, and taught school for a few years. I loved working with children, but the rules seemed so stifling! Also, teaching consumed me and left me with little energy to devote to my youngest child (we’ve raised three sons), so  though it was a struggle, I quit to stay home and be a full-time mom.

Since I have always been a very active person with a lot of interests, it wasn’t long before I started looking around for a business that I could do from my home. I thought about calligraphy, but I had absolutely no desire to do it anymore. So I put it to prayer. I asked the Lord that if He wanted me to do calligraphy again, to please give me the desire to do it. He gave me an overwhelming desire, and I give Him the glory for helping me every day as I learn, draw, paint, write, and design.

That was nearly 20 years ago that I started my home business.  Today I’m Nana to eight wonderful grandchildren.  I’ve been married to the love of my life for 45 years.  We make our home in rural northeast Texas with two dogs, four cats, and numerous aquarium fish.  I teach Sunday school to children, and I enjoy sewing doll clothes for my granddaughters,  spending time playing with all of the grandkids, reading, cooking, gardening, and spending time with friends.  And I enjoy doing calligraphy and art as much or more than ever!

Creating beautiful, original pieces gives me great joy. I hope that you enjoy browsing my galleries and find something just right for yourself or someone special to you. If you don’t find exactly what you need, I will be happy to work with you to create a one-of-a-kind custom design.
